Brookside Charter School is proud to be a Leader in Me School. Leader in Me is a whole-school improvement process based on the idea that everyone can be a leader. This evidence-based approach empowers students with the leadership and life skills they need to thrive in the 21st century. We focus on developing the whole child by:
  • teaching LEADERSHIP to every student,
  • creating a CULTURE of student empowerment,
  • and aligning systems to drive results in ACADEMICS.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

All Brookside Charter Staff are trained in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and implement the practices in their daily lives. The 7 Habits are embedded in our curriculum and daily practices. All students PreK-8th Grade are taught these habits.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is one of the key frameworks of the Leader in Me process. In addition to helping students learn and apply leadership skills, the 7 Habits give us a common language in building a supportive emotional environment.

The 4 Disciplines of Execution

Brookside Charter School follows the 4 Disciplines of Execution when it comes to setting and achieving goals. The 4 Disciplines of Execution is another key framework of the Leader in Me that helps us to identify, track, and achieve academic and personal Wildly Important Goals (WIGs).

CASEL

The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), the world’s leading organization in the practice of promoting integrated academic, social, and emotional learning for all children, conducted an extensive review of Leader in Me. CASEL determined that the Leader in Me training, support, and materials offer their highest level of support to schools across all five of their recognized settings; classroom, school, family, community, and general. As a result of their review and the research evidence, CASEL recently endorsed Leader in Me as a recommended evidence-based social-emotional learning (SEL) solution.
