EXPLORE BROOKSIDE VIRTUAL ACADEMY
Live Instruction
Brookside Virtual Academy is a live, teacher-led program. Students attend Zoom classes each school day where they participate in discussions, collaborate with classmates, ask questions, and receive real-time support from certified Brookside teachers. BVA is designed to provide the structure of a traditional classroom with the flexibility of learning from home.
Technology & Learning Platforms
Students receive the technology and materials they need for success. Live instruction takes place through Zoom, students access classes through Google Calendar, grades 3-8 use Google Classroom, and grades K-2 use Seesaw to complete assignments and communicate with teachers. Chromebooks, learning materials, and internet hotspots (if needed) are provided.
Curriculum & Learning
BVA students receive the same high-quality curriculum used throughout Brookside Charter School. Daily instruction includes reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and leadership development. Students also complete daily i-Ready lessons to build skills and monitor academic growth throughout the year.
Student Support
Every student is known by name and supported by a caring team. Teachers provide daily feedback, office hours, small-group instruction, intervention, and individualized support. When students need additional assistance, families and staff work together to develop a plan that helps students stay engaged and successful.
Beyond the Screen
Learning doesn’t stop when Zoom ends. Students have the opportunity to participate in monthly STEAM Labs, field trips, school events, clubs, and other activities that build friendships, strengthen learning, and keep students connected to the Brookside community throughout the school year.
In-Person Expectations
While instruction takes place online, there are important opportunities for students to connect in person. All new families attend an orientation before school begins, and students participate in required district and state assessments throughout the year. Families also receive a calendar of optional events, testing dates, and STEAM Labs during orientation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is BVA Fully Online?
Yes, instruction takes place online from home, but students are still part of the Brookside community. These experiences help students build friendships and stay connected to the Brookside community beyond the screen.
Do students attend live classes every day?
