Our goal is for 51% of our students to read at or above grade level by the end of the 2027-28 school year. We measure this goal by collecting data from mClass for grades Kindergarten to 5th and CORE Literacy assessments for grades 6th to 8th.

Discipline 2: Act on the Lead Measures

Lead Measures are the small steps you take daily that are influenceable and predictable to reach your Wildly Important Goal.

Elementary Lead Measures: Lexia Reading Program

Middle School Lead Measures: Read 20 Minutes Every Day

Discipline 3: Keep a Compelling Scoreboard

Just like in any sporting event, you want to know if you’re winning. It’s the same when you’re working towards a goal so you need to keep score!

Each classroom keeps a scoreboard that tracks how many students are reaching their lead measures each week, and how close we are to meeting our goal (3 times a year.)

Discipline 4: Create a Cadence of Accountability

When you’re trying to reach a goal it’s important to have someone to help keep you on track. At Brookside Charter, we check in with our accountability partners often and check in with our class during morning meetings to ensure we’re on the right track. Our staff even have weekly check in meetings with their teams to review their commitments towards our goal!

Celebrate!!!

It’s important to celebrate as we work towards our goal. At Brookside Charter we celebrate as a class when 80% or more of students in the class meet their lead measures. We celebrate as a school when 80% or more of our students in the school reach their lead measures.
